"Songs of the Slow Burning Earth": Screening and talk with a director Olha Zhurba
Ukraine House in partnership with the Alliance of Democracies invite you to a special screening of Songs of the Slow Burning Earth, a powerful documentary that captures Ukraine’s quiet descent into war. Filmed over two years near the frontline, it portrays how destruction slowly becomes part of daily life through haunting imagery, rare conversations, and silence. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Olha Zhurba (Outside, Dad’s Sneakers), the film has received major international recognition, including Best Film at the Riga International Film Festival and One World Human Rights Festival. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Olha Zhurba, Nadiia Ivanova (People in Need), and Nataliya Popovych (Ukraine House in Denmark).
