Christopher Le Mon serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor at the U.S. Department of State, where he oversees DRL’s work on Near Eastern Affairs, and on Security and Human Rights. Previously, from 2017 to 2021, he was Washington Director for Crisis Action, an international human rights advocacy NGO.
Mr. Le Mon served on the National Security Council staff from 2013 to 2014, as Director for Multilateral Affairs, and from 2016 to 2017, as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights. From 2014 to 2017, Mr. Le Mon served at the White House as Special Assistant to the President for Presidential Personnel (National Security), and from 2009 to 2013 he served as Senior Advisor in the Bureau of International Organization Affairs at the Department of State, where he received an individual Superior Honor Award.
He holds a law degree from New York University School of Law and received his B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
